Coleman’s Original English Mustard & Double Superfine Mustard Powder

At first glance, Colman’s Mustard, looks like, well, mustard.  Opening the 3.5 oz. jar broadens your perspective of the deep yellow condiment typically overshadowed by its food pairing.  The first taste of Colman’s Original English Mustard felt like the first time I saw Dirty Dancing and Patrick Swayze stated “Nobody puts Baby in the Corner”.  Nobody puts Colman’s in the corner.  With robust flavor that pricks the nose just enough to know this is not mustard to be toyed with, it should be paired with your best food pairings.

Thoughts of brats and tender Eastern Market sausages immediately came to mind when I tasted it.  Mustard usually does not excite me this much, but this one stands out by that first bite, I needed to take a second.  Colman’s does a pleasing job of perfectly balancing the spice factor against the bitterness typically present in horseradish style mustards.  This mustard was not the uncomfortable spice level for someone like me who is deterred from heated condiments, but it did not skimp on the spice factor for someone who lives for smoking hot levels.  It met us in the middle.  With a condiment like this, who needs much more than a few piping smoked sausages and a side of mixed bell peppers?? Well for a beer lover, you might want one of those and alongside Colman’s mustard, that might not be a bad idea…

Thanks, I’ll try it. Also try Louisiana Gold pepper sauce. It might be the most flavorful hot (not that stuff that just burns your taste buds) sauce I’ve ever had.
