Deal of the Day

Good day to visit Taberna Del Alabardero.  The restaurant is celebrating Presidents Day with a four-course dinner for $44 with a complimentary glass of cava.

Openings

Pound the Hill is open on Capitol Hill.  The new coffee shop serves coffee, tea and food Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 5 pm, and Saturday, 9 am to 4 pm.  New to the neighborhood, the restaurant has distinguished itself with such selections as Nutella Lattes and falafels that are said to be the best in the city.

Pizzeria de Marco will open in Bethesda on March 28, 2011.  The Neopolitan style pizzeria headed by Chef Dino Santonicola will feature light crusts, Buffalo mozzarella and organic San Marzano tomatoes (*all imported from Naples, Italy).

Seasons 52 is slated to open on Monday, April 11, 2011 with a traditional contemporary menu boasting selections with no more than 475 calories. This will be the 17th Seasons 52 to open in the U. S. but the first of two to open in the D.C. area this year.  Opening across from White Flint mall, the restaurant will have a piano bar that will feature live music every night.

New

So the meatless Monday concept has caught on.  2941 Restaurant has launched new meatless specials, alongside a six-course daily changing vegetarian tasting menu.  Handmade cheese fondue ravioli with cauliflower and black truffle and Potato gnocchi with Puits D’ Astier cheese and cream line the new menu.  Veggie appetizers and entrees range between $8-$19.

Closing

CommonWealth Gastropub has been sold to a restaurant group headed by Terry Cullen (*February 27).  Restaurant partner, Jamie Leeds plans to expand on her first Washington restaurant, Hank’s Oyster Bar.

Happy Hour
