NOVA Restaurant Week Returns

Matchbox Cream of Crab Soup

Northern Virginia (NOVA) gets the culinary spotlight beginning March 19-March 26, 2018 during NOVA Restaurant Week.  NOVA Restaurant Week reminds me of why I love living in this area, there are two states and a District to choose from when it comes to dining.  NOVA is comprised of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties; as well as the independent cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas, and Manassas Park.  The food scene in these areas has grown exponentially in the past 10 years with everywhere from Duke Street to Woodbridge creating new restaurant trends.

Woodbridge, for example, has seen a spike in growth with the continued expansion of Potomac Mills mall.  Potomac Mills, which was once centrally known for its shopping, has now expanded into the ever growing NOVA scene with crowd favorites such as, Matchbox and Bahama Breeze.  In the spirit of celebrating NOVA Restaurant Week, these are just a couple of the names that you will see in the lineup from the Prince William’s region.

Matchbox Apple Pear Salad

Why would you want to visit one of these spots for restaurant week?  Well, Matchbox obviously has some of the best, affordable eats in the entire DMV region.  For NOVA Restaurant Week, however, the deal gets even better.  Matchbox’s lunch menu, for example, allows you the option of one of their specially selected salads or chicken tortilla soup and your choice of any small wood-fired pizza with a soft drink of your choice for $22.  Based on the regular prices of some of their small wood-fired pizzas, you will come out on top with this two-course lunch.

Bahama Breeze margarita-Inspired nail polish

Another example, Bahama Breeze gets even better where they help you to keep those New Year’s resolutions of healthier eating.  For NOVA Restaurant Week, the Caribbean-centric restaurant is offering for lunch a choice of their chef select appetizers, fresh catch selections and a dessert for $22.  Not really feeling fish?  Substitutions are welcome.  Bahama Breeze is also running a unique promo that involves nail polish.  You read it right, nail polish.  With their Viva La Rita promo, each person who orders an entrée and a Pina Paradise or a Mighty Blood Orange ‘Rita gets one of Bahama Breeze’s margarita-inspired nail polishes.  Sip cocktails and get you a new nail color for the summer?  Now this is something new.

NOVA Restaurant Week is a good time to explore what is new in our neighboring cities.  There is a lot of good food out there and it is not limited to the four quadrants of the city that brings us together.  These surrounding territories are showing the District that there are other culinary forces to be reckoned with around these parts.
