Food.Fun.Stuff: Whew, 1000!

Ha! JKGF just reached 1,000 posts…insane. Have we been talking that much?? Well it makes sense because if you met us in person you would see that the writing is not a myth…we talk just as much out of our human mouth. Now for today’s business…

With the resignation from G Street Food, we are curious to hear more of Baker Mark Furstenberg’s side of the story. Apparently (*we hate to gossip, but…), the owners of G Street and Furstenberg had very different views of the business (*whatever that means…). Furstenberg, who is the creator of Marvelous Market and Breadline, states he would love to “do a really good bakery in the city” and has even peeked @ some locations in Dupont and Logan Circle. Curiosity killed the cat, but we would take that risk to learn why a person whose contract was to end in May has ended @ the beginning of December 2009??…More here.

For some good news:
Capital Restaurants is in the holiday spirit with its 24 Days of Dining. Basically, for 24 days beginning December 1 (*we know we’re late…) thru December 24, patrons can enjoy a 3-course holiday menu for $24 per person which includes holiday faves and a glass of wine (*some conditions do apply…read the fine print.).

The Where: Capital Restaurants=J. Paul’s, Georgia Brown’s, Paolo’s, Old Glory, Neyla and Third Edition.
The When: December 1-24, 2009, 5 pm-8 pm
The Money: $24 per person not including tax and gratuity

Flippin‘ Pizza Opens Tomorrow:-) We are excited about this one. The Washingtonian Magazine 2009 has this spot “Voted Best Pizza in DC”…could this be true?!? Something allegedly better than 2 Amy’s or Pizzeria Paradiso, we must give a try.

The When: The Grand Opening is tomorrow from noon until 2 pm for lunch and 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm for dinner.
