World Tour: Post-Miami Thoughts

Miami Eats ©JohnnaKnowsGoodFood

Now that I’m back home from Miami, I can’t help but dwell on some of the amazing food that I got to experience. It was so good, I’m honestly trying to figure out the next time I’ll have enough American Airlines points so that I can book a cheap flight and hightail it back for more. I just thought I’d share my experience with you all by posting a couple of pics.

I’ve come up with yet another way to get my Italian food fix since I haven’t accumulated enough United Airlines points to book an international flight the country infamous for its pasta, pizza and beautiful people. I put a little twist on my spaghetti that I found to be quite tasty and so I thought I’d share it with all of you. All I did, was substitute ground beef with ground turkey and I added a sauteed medley of zucchini, fresh mushrooms and diced tomatoes to the mix. I used my store-bought tomato sauce of preference and added hot sauce and sugar until it had just the right flavor. It was quick, simple and absolutely mouthwatering!

It’s that time of the year again for me. Time for me to board a flight and go down to Miami and spend my days and nights at the American Airlines arena for my job’s conference. While I am not particularly excited about the work aspect of it all, I am looking forward to those rare occasions when I will have the chance to experience the explore Miami’s food scene. I am well aware of the huge Cuban influence in Miami and so I know that grabbing some of the best put-together pork sandwiches will definitely be on my food to-do list, but after that I’m stumped. Other than the popular Bayside food hangouts, I never had the chance let my taste buds roam in Miami – research and suggestions are definitely in order! If you know of any restaurants that are a display of the Miami food scene, let me know!

I haven’t even stepped foot on my flight to Jamaica for this year’s adventure to new sites and new tastes and I’m already trying to figure out where I want to go next. The next contender on the list? I have NO IDEA. HELP! Share with me your favorite trips that left you and your taste buds with the most memorable moments! I want to make sure I use my American Airlines points wisely! Thanks in advance!

World Tour: Post-New Year Thoughts

We’re just a few days into the new year and many people have made food-related resolutions, which (more often than not) usually include to diet and restrict yourself to certain foods. My love for food makes it quite difficult to ex my favorites off of my list due to their calorie count (me and cheesy dishes have a bond that cannot be broken) and so I am learning to get acquainted with a new word: moderation. Since my love affair with food is one that needs to exist with as little boundaries as possible (especially when I have solid plans to board flights that will take me to flavors my taste buds have yet to explore), I’ve decided to train myself to enjoy all of the foods that I love in moderation. My addiction to cheese, for example, I have decided to try to control by limiting myself to only three, maybe four, cheesy dishes per week. By no means am I becoming a calorie-counter (me and that lifestyle just don’t match), but in 2012 I will try to be more mindful and try not to “overdue it” (as if there is such a thing when it comes to food). But, make no mistake, the minute my United Airlines points are officially cashed in and I step foot on foreign soil, I will definitely be throwing my food-inhibitions to the wind!
