BLT Steak is gathering DC’s top chefs to say farewell to summer with an “86 Summer, 86 Bucks” charity rooftop grill-out on Tuesday, September 17. “86” in the restaurant world means to get rid of something, and BLT Steak is pushing summer out the door and welcoming fall with an evening of hot-off-the-grill fare from 5 DC area chefscraft cocktails and friendly competition on the restaurant’s scenic rooftop overlooking the White House, all to raise money for Children’s National Medical Center.

The following local chefs will each grill up proteins and veggies of their choice ranging from steaks, fish and late summer veggies, competing to create the best end-of-summer dish:

  • Chef Jon Mathieson, BLT Steak
  • Chef RJ Cooper, Rogue 24
  • Chef David Guas, Bayou Bakery
  • Chef Anthony Lombardo, 1789
  • Chef Scot Harlan, Green Pig Bistro

BLT Steak will also serve a selection of hors d’ouevres, a Popover Bar featuring the restaurant’s signature fresh-out-of-the-oven popovers, and guests can enjoy variety of beer, wine and craft punches and cocktails from mixologist Steve Oshana.

Children’s National has been saving children’s lives for 140 years, leading the way in innovative new treatments. A portion of the event proceeds will help ensure every child gets emergency care, regardless of their family’s ability to pay, invest in future cures for some of the most devastating diseases kids face, and reach children in the Washington area, across the country, and around the world with life-saving treatments and groundbreaking research.

Tickets to “86 Summer, 86 bucks” are available for $86 per person, which includes unlimited steaks & sides, Popover Bar, craft cocktails, beer, wine and fun throughout the evening, and can be purchased online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/461215 or by calling Isabel Torres at 202-689-8989.
