Restaurant Getaway: Superman Drinks

photo 5The name Wet Willie’s is often misconstrued when I describe it to people who have never visited Miami’s South Beach.  A name often associated with how your sibling would prank you after falling asleep, Wet Willie’s in South Beach has an entirely different meaning.  The frozen daiquiri bar is well known for its highly intoxicating drinks.  On a recent visit to South Beach, I was excited to get back to my favorite drink on the menu, Call a Cab.  Call a Cab, however, took a back seat when I got word from a Miami native about Wet Willie’s Superman daiquiri.  The Superman is an even mix of Call a Cab and Shock Treatment, whose names speak to their potency.  The Superman is packed full of grain alcohol and sweet accompainments, making it perfect for a day of lounging by the beach.  My warning to you:  Sip slowly.  Don’t let the sweet taste fool you, Superman can easily turn into Kryptonite.
