Product Review: Captain Wafers

[ 0 ] September 9, 2011 |

It’s that time of day between breakfast and lunch where you need a quick snack.  What do you eat?  Typically yours truly would wait it out but on this particular day I remembered the Lance Captain Wafers sandwich crackers hidden deep in my bag.  Four cheeses boasting no preservatives and 0 grams trans fat, which is typical of most snacks these days.  The zero this and zero that never reels me in, it really is about whether this snack is worth the calories.  These were luckily right up my alley with the soft crunch I would expect from a cracker sandwiching a thin layer of a cheddar cheese flavor.  The four cheese flavor that the crackers are supposed to contain was not there and only the cheddar cheese seemed to scream “there is cheese on these crackers!”.

Many of you know I do not snack, but when presented with an opportunity to try something new, I’m usually down for the cause.  I was pleasantly surprised by the soft texture without a huge glob of hard yellow stuff, which can be typical of these types of treats.  I would keep these on hand for the cheese fix I typically need by mid-day or I would even stint to pair them with a tomato basil soup.  Though there is a lack in the four-cheese flavor I was expecting, these little wafers make it worth the cost in calories while providing the perfect snack fix during those “in-between” times.
