1. The dedication ceremony for Dr. King will take place in the District on August 28, 2011. *Exciting* Of course, there will be tons and tons of people… and tons and tons of hungry people on site, know where to go fast by checking out this comprehensive Google Map. Litestars, Restaurant Ris and Matchbox are a few of the highlights.

2. The inner food blogger is in you but you don’t want to commit to posting weekly, carrying your camera everywhere, etc. etc.?? Well MyCityCuisine is currently looking for contributors for the online publication. MyCityCuisine is a Wiki project aimed at helping travelers discover local food from all over the world. 3. Now that Honest Tea knows that the District and other major American cities can actually be honest, what to do with all that money? Donate! The popular tea company is donating the proceeds from its Honest Tea campaign to City Year ($5,000), Share Our Strength ($3,000) and Rails-to-Trails Conservancy ($2,000).

4. Besides stuffing my face with tons of cake pops, I had the opportunity to celebrate my birthday this year with a few of my fave foodies. Lauren DeSantis hosted the Lamb Supper Club dinner this past weekend and there was lots o’ food to talk about, check out the picture menu here.

5. Restaurant Week DC begins next Monday, August 15, 2011 until August 21, 2011. Dining in DC does a good job of rounding up the restaurants for you here.

Johnna French is a Harlem NY native with deep roots in Panama, Washington, DC and North Carolina. All four places have heavily influenced her life and the foods she loves today. French, who still practices law, leads a team of three writers to cover the ever expanding Washington, DC food scene. During the 2016-2017 football season, Johnna aired on Comcast Sports Mid-Atlantic (CSN) show, Redskins Life, as the weekly tailgate host. Johnna is currently a regular contributor to the FOX Baltimore Weekend morning show.
