New Tapas Menu at Taberna del Alabardero

[ 0 ] October 25, 2010 |

There are few places in the District with the authentic flare of Taberna del Alabardero.  Spanish cuisine in a class of its own and a decor to match:  detailed attention to color patterns but simple enough to remind patrons of afternoons spent in Cordoba.  There’s something you should know before I continue this review…my other passion is fashion and I tend to analogize restaurants and food to some of my favorites in the fashion business.  Now you might understand when Taberna comes to mind, so does the basic silhouette of a Chanel suit.  Classic and never out of style, simple but first class in its field.  These are my exact sentiments when Taberna comes to mind.

Please understand before meals were comped by restaurants and writing became my second life, my girlfriends and I frequented this spot.  Only, however, when it was on sale.  Restaurant Week was our time to indulge in the luxuries associated with the District veteran, so when I had the opt to taste the new fall tapas menu, it was penciled in as a top priority.  Happy hour now has a new face:

1/2 priced tapas from 3 pm- 6:30 pm, Monday thru Friday.

You might wonder why I gas (*Translation:  Hype) this place, well I believe people eat with their eyes first, so here we go:

Brick de Morcilla con Manzana y Parmesano…

Arroz Cremoso de Rabo de Toro y Judiones…

Calamares Fritos a la andaluza con Emulsión de Pimentón de la Vera…

Ensaladilla Rusa…

Yum to the above, the 1/2 priced Red & White Sangria also offered during happy hour and the fact that parking is complementary after 5:30 pm in the parking garage (*right before the restaurant entrance).
