Johnna’s Pick of the Week: Affordable (All Over the District!)

[ 0 ] February 4, 2009 |

This week JKGF decided to do things a little different with “Johnna’s Pick of the Week”. Instead of choosing one restaurant that tickled our fancy;-), we decided during these tough economic times we would tell you our top picks that aren’t so heavy on the pockets. A lot of places around the District offer excellent happy hours for the frugal consumer (*as many of us now are…) and we have been casing them out to see which ones are affordable but still offer decent, quality food options…here’s are a few things we found:

Looking for a good burger and some creative martini creations?? Try McCormick and Schmick’s happy hour. For $1.95, you get a pretty juicy burger with a side of fries and the speciality “tea martinis” are $6 (*contact your local McCormick’s and find out the happy hour times, times vary in different locations)

Looking for some good but affordable fresh pizza?? Pizzeria Paradiso (*Which is our favorite pizza spot in the District right now…well a close runner up beside 2 Amy’s that is…;-) offers 1/2 of 8 inch pizzas for $4.25 during its happy hour on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m. in its Georgetown location. The pizza is worth the parking hassle. Trust us;-)

Looking for good Mojitos and Empanadas?? Ceiba has $5 speciality cocktails from 2:30-9:30 pm (*$20 can go a long way here…) and from 9:30-11 pm Monday-Saturday, they offer $5 appetizers (*includes Conch Fritters, Spicy Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla, Beef Empanadas, Guacamole de Molcajete and Peruvian Ceviche).

Let us know if there is something in particular (*i.e. seafood, more Virginia or Maryland locations, etc…) you are looking for that is affordable but doesn’t sacrifice the taste of the food…we will find the best deal for your money:-) Good Food should never be sacrificed!!
