Gi.Ve.Aw.Ay

This is the eating season.  That’s no secret.  It’s almost as if people plan to gain weight around this time of the year just to make the typical resolution to lose it all in the New Year.  Well I’m here to help with the gaining part by none other than filling your bum with plenty o’ pasta, pizza, salads, etc.  Yet another giveaway, in light of my holiday cheer, for one lucky winner to get a $25 gift card to Vapiano.

Today and for the next seven days, please share your New Years Food Resolutions, please note “food” is the key word.  See where I’m going with this? OK, if not, here’s mines: I plan to cook in my own kitchen at least once a week in 2012.  I know this sounds like a no brainer for many, but for yours truly, my kitchen has slowly began to collect dust as I take over the DC Restaurant scene.  This year I start anew in more ways than one.  Send me your food resolutions by December 21, 2011 and a winner will be chosen at random to receive the funds. Go!

VOTE

Want to see my faves in the DC dining scene? Well, check out Lauren, of The Capitol Cooking Show blog, for the dibs on her fave DC restaurants alongside Lisa, of Dining in DC and yours truly.  Vote and let us know your fave spots as we round out 2011!

Also, you may have noticed this little grey box popping up when you visit my site.  No, this is not some phishing scam or annoying way to get your information.  It is a survey that Lisa of Dining in DC, Lauren of The Capitol Cooking Show, Mary of Girl Meets Food and myself have compiled to get an idea of who’s out there reading about DC food.  Fill out the survey for your chance to take home a $100 gift certificate.  Good luck!

On the 9th Day of Christmas…

December 9th ring a bell??  Well nine days ago, I asked you to shoot over the name of a food personality, i.e. TV, food blogger, food columnist and the like, whom you would shake a tail feather with to take home the prize of $50 to spend at Chix DC.  As the old song goes “On the 9th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…nine ladies dancing”.  I guess I should share who I would spend a night on the town with, though I thought it would be pretty clear if you know my personality.  Clearly, Anthony Bourdain.

A night out dancing with Anthony Bourdain sounds like a night that starts with Tattoo Bar/Lima, then off to off to Lost Society, then somehow we end up in Patty Boom Boom for Rum Punch and by this point we’re headed to Wastedland which probably lands us either at some late night watering hole or Jumbo Slice in Adams Morgan and this is where more dancing happens only because we are truly wasted. Yeah fun times with Anthony Bourdain…in my head…Good luck to those who enter for a chance to win! You can enter by Tweeting your answer to @jknowsgoodfood #12daysdc or by commenting below.

On the 9th Day of Christmas…

“On the 9th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…$50 to Chix in DC!”  Why I start on the 9th day, well that’s where I come in on the song that is now renamed the “12 Days of Christmas with DC Food Bloggers”.  For the next 12 days, me and DC area food bloggers are giving away some awfully nice gifts, if I do say so myself.  On the 9th day, instead of “9 ladies dancing”, you have an opt to win a $50 gift card to Chix DC which is good for any food that they sell.  How to take the prize?  Tweet me @jknowsgoodfood with the hashtag #12daysdc and tell me one (1) food personality (*includes bloggers, TV, food columnists, etc.) you would go dancing with while spending a night on the town. Go!

This year I have been a little Oprah in my own right…trying to give away everything.  This time I am giving away a gift card to my favorite lunchtime spot in the District.  Actually, this is my fave go-to lunch and dinner spot in the District because its 1.) fast, 2.) casual and 3.) of course, good.  That could be none other than Vapiano.  I really should own stock in this place as much as I visit but for now I’ll simply share the joy that I feel every time I order the Carbonara with one of my readers.

Since I’m a loyal patron of Vapiano’s I believe this giveaway should be dedicated to one of my loyal readers.  Simply leave me a comment of your favorite Johnna Knows Good Food post (*we’ve been talking about food since November 2007 so this should be pretty easy…) and you’re automatically entered to win a $25 gift card to Vapiano.  The giveaway will end on December 7, 2011 at midnight and the winner will be randomly selected.  Good luck!

*Also note that Vapiano has multiple locations outside of the District (*nationally and internationally).
