Every time someone asks me where to get good cocktails in this town, I almost always suggest The Gibson.  At the risk of sounding trite, I avoid suggesting it every time because I really think it is one of the best, if not the best, place to find a truly crafted cocktail.  The care and attention that The Gibson puts into their cocktails makes you wish that they had a comparable kitchen staff to match.  They keep their focal point on the cocktails and I can appreciate that where a jack of all trades can become a queen of none.  The new Fall/Winter menu is here and it is the one event I have almost permanently etched on the calendar.  Our faves this year?  Soo you must try:

  1. …. da Pain Away.  Based on relationships with plenty o’ complicated adult issues, this cocktail will make you have amnesia for a bit when it comes to that broken heart.  +++Strong (Laphroaig 10 yr., Vanilla Liqueur, Carpano Antica, Chocolate Bitters, Decanter Bitters)
  2. The Man I Forgot I Loved.  I am a sucker for gin when it is done right.  ++Strong (The London No. 1 Gin, Bonal, Four Roses Bourbon, Kummel, Orange Bitters)
  3. The Cat’s Meow.  Red wine and rum are two of my favorite libations so when they come together in a glass, it makes me happy.  +Strong (Red Wine, Cruzan Black Strap Rum, Vanilla, Lime, Champagne)

You will not lose with anything on this menu.  Make a night of it.  Between the waiting list and the extensive list of craft cocktails that are offered, you will want to spend some time here.  Eat beforehand, however, where the focus here is the drink.

+++ Meanings

+++Strong:  Two to three would be my max.

++Strong:  This is the perfect evening long drink.  Not too strong but strong enough that you will get your monies worth.

+Strong:  For the lightweight.
