Season’s Greetings

[ 0 ] December 14, 2010 |

It’s the season of giving, so let’s go.  Here are a couple of great causes to lend a helping hand:

1.  The world’s first food rescue organization, City Harvest, is holding a donation drive.  City Harvest collects excess food from various venues in the food industry including restaurants, grocers, corporate cafeterias, manufacturers and farms.  The food is delivered (*Free) to 600 community food programs throughout New York City via trucks, bikes and volunteers on foot.  With the nifty little QR code above, donors can simply scan the code onto their phone and receive a plethora of information on City Harvest (*If you do not know how to do this, download ScanLife to be able to scan the code).  More info on the organization is found here.

2.  EatWellDC is collecting canned goods and toys for the holiday season.  The restaurant group that includes The Heights and Commissary DC will collect donations at all of their restaurants.  The toys will go to Central Union Mission and the canned goods will go to the Capital Area Food Bank.
