Tips for Making a Delicious Salad

Red Oak Salad

During a recent private dining in Buckhead, I was fortunate enough to have tasted the best salad I have ever had in my life. I do not mean to exaggerate, but it is indeed amazing! I could eat that salad every meal! My curiosity bit me and I have done some research on tips and tricks to make a delicious salad, including those that I will be sharing in the rest of this post.

Pair it with the Right Salad

The restaurant I was talking about in the introduction is American Cut Steakhouse, a popular steakhouse in Atlanta. Their salads have cheeses, which include feta, Parmigiano Reggiano, and blue cheese. These cheeses are the ones that are responsible for creating a balanced flavor, making greens more exciting for the taste buds. It adds saltiness and flavor to the salad, which will allow you to skip the dressing.

Pick a Healthy Dressing

A salad dressing will make it more delicious. Nonetheless, many of the dressings available have high sodium content and other ingredients that may raise an eyebrow amongst people who are health-conscious. Creamy dressings should be saved for special occasions as they can easily ruin your diet. Also, make sure to just drizzle the dressing and do not drench the salad with it. For a healthy dressing, it will be good to start with oil, water, and vinegar.

Give it the Right Texture

A good salad is not only what the eyes can see or the tongue can taste. It is also all about the texture. The crunchies will make the salad more satisfying as they sink in your teeth. With this, as Bon Appetit suggests, some of the best ways to add texture to the salad include adding nuts, croutons, and granola.

Season the Greens

Your greens are the main ingredients of the salad. You can choose almost any greens of your liking, but the important thing is that you have to season it, which is one of the secrets of making restaurant-quality salad even without being a chef. The simplest way to season it is to sprinkle salt and pepper sparingly. Also, make sure that the greens are dry before making the salad so that it won’t end up being soggy.

Don’t be Afraid of Fat

The reality is that fat is actually good for your salad. If you eat in a restaurant, you can see that they are not afraid to toss some fats in a bowl of greens as this is going to enhance the flavor.
