Get Out In These D.C. Streets

This week is hot out in these D.C. streets.  Not only are the temperatures rising but the event lineup is full of fun things to do that including pleasing your palate.  Taste the best of one of the Districts most notable streets, whine up with some jerk chicken and/or get your Lady Marmalade on this weekend!

Taste of North Capitol

North Capitol Main Streets is hosting it’s 2nd annual Taste of North Capitol this Thursday June 7, 2018 from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm at the NPR Building. The North Capitol Neighborhood boasts one of the most unique community of bars and restaurants giving it a distinct vibe from other corridors in the city.

Jerk Fest

This year’s Jerk Fest will feature local and national Jamaican food vendors like Jerk Pit, Spice: A Caribbean Jerk Joint, Reids Jerk Shack and more serving hot plates of sizzling and spicy jerk delicacies. For those who don’t have such a spicy palate, there will be other foods available in the Vegan area and non-cooked foods area.  Beverages will be provided by Pines and Ice and more.  Additionally, there will be a cook off between reggae/dancehall artist Elephant Man and DJ Ricky Platinum.  There will also be cooking demonstrations and tastings by Chef Irie, host of Taste the Islands television show on PBS. Washington, DC’s own Chef Giovanni Merle and Chef “Jumoke” Jackson who will showcase recipes for patrons to sample.  The festival is scheduled for Sunday, June 10, 2018 from 11am to 8pm at RFK Stadium, Festival Lawn at Oklahoma Avenue, Lot 6. Ticket information and other information can be found on the Jerk Fest website.

Lamb Jam

On Sunday, June 10th, chefs from restaurants around town will duke it out for the title of Lamb Jam DC Champion.  Chefs will compete in four cuisine categories: Asian, Latin, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern.  Bartenders, winemakers, brewers and culinary artisans will serve up other treats.  Attendees and local food media will decide whose lamb dish takes the prize.

City Tap Dupont Drag Brunch Every Sunday
