Where are you lunching for Ritual Eats Week?

Old habits die hard? Not so true around these parts when it comes to the workweek lunch hour.  Eating at your desk has become a daily routine and lunching or even grabbing coffee out with co-workers is slowly fading away.  In the day and age of technology, it is sometimes hard to slip away from your desk during the workday lunch hour.  The computer is calling your name or your iPhone has you glued to your Facebook timeline.  Whatever the calling during the lunch hours, it rarely has today’s worker leaving their desk to commune with their co-workers.  Ritual sought to change that when they launched in Toronto in 2014 by allowing users to pick up and pay for food seamlessly alongside fellow office mates.

Ritual allows users to place a mobile order and pay at local eateries and coffee shops and have it ready to pick up when they arrive.  Imagine skipping the daunting morning coffee line and getting that actual face/conversation time that you need with your new boss or lead colleague on a project?!  Ritual takes what technology was intended to do, make life easier while keeping the humane aspects of life intact.  Face-to-face interaction is important but time is of the essence.  I appreciate how Ritual classically marries these concepts without making sacrifices on either side.

Other local deals during Ritual Eats Week

Haven’t tried it out yet? Well this is the perfect week to get the ball rolling.  From March 5 until March 16, 2018, Ritual and Apple Pay have teamed up to launch “Ritual Eats Week”.  During Ritual Eats Week, many of the local restaurants where Ritual is available are offering exclusive dishes and select menu items for up to 50% off.  Additionally, any customers who orders with the Ritual app and pays with Apple Pay will have access to exclusive deals.

With Ritual’s social ordering feature, Piggyback, you also have the option to confirm the company that you work for so that you can receive notifications when your coworkers are placing their orders.  I found this beneficial in those instances where I am indecisive, I can simply tag along with what the group decides to grab for lunch.  I got a chance to try out Beefsteak, a participating Ritual Eats Week restaurant, and it was so beneficial on two fronts:  1. the food is amazingly healthy and unique combinations of flavors for your palate (try the BEETsteak Burger and thank me later); and 2.  I got to have some one-on-one time with a human being away from the computer monitor.  It was a healthy insertion into my day and took minimal time from the ultimate goal:  getting the job done.

Looking for a new lunchtime ritual? There’s an app for that.
