Alhambra Opens at the St. Regis in Washington, D.C.

“Alhambra” dessert

A newbie has entered the St. Regis. Alhambra pays homage to Mediterranean cuisine with an upscale appeal.  Playing with lots of fresh seafood, Chef Sebastian Giannini takes risks with his dishes.  The Tuna Tartare, for example, is loaded with a few unusual suspects:  date puree, marcona almond and quail egg.  The Executive Pastry Chef, Thierry Delourneaux, has also created an impressive spin on the basic chocolate mousse with his Alhambra, chocolate Monte Carlo mousse (pictured).  If you are not up for a full-fledged dinner at Alhambra, give the newly renovated St. Regis bar a spin.  It is one of the coziest and most elegant spots on this side of town.
