Gin and tonic is a complete throwback to my house party days.  It used to look more like gin and juice but you get the picture.  Gin’s distinct flavor is put on blast at Betsy and JKGF is loving it.  The rooftop oasis tucked behind its sister restaurant Belga Café on 8th Street SE has every type of gin and tonic combo that you can imagine and they are all good.  Try the Langley’s and the Hendricks, they were the stars of the show on my visit.

The drinks are just half the show, however, where the food matches up equally as well.  The Crispy Potato Skins with all the Toppings (Chef Bart Vandaele’s play on his first impression of the American delicacy) and the Deep Fried Brussel sprouts are a must try and share.  Thank me later for your new secret hangout.  Just follow the chicken feet (you will understand when you visit) to one of summer’s best kept secrets.

*HAPPY HOUR:  (available for selected items on the menu)  $2 off bites , $3 beers and $5 wines
