Happy 2nd Anniversary Bidwell DC

Chef John Mooney

Bidwell recently celebrated its second anniversary with a smorgasbord of recognized favorites. Prepared by Chef John Mooney and team, an array of dishes fed hungry guests as laughs and photos were shared. Mooney is known for his sustainability techniques, winning StarChef.com’s Rising Star Sustainability Chef in 2011. Since then, he’s traveled around the world sharing his passion and knowledge with others. One thing has remained consistent, Chef Mooney’s aeroponic garden. Grown on top of Union Market’s roof, the vegetables and herbs used in his cuisine supplement elevated comfort food with a Southern flair. Whether a blood orange champagne cocktail for starters, or the XOXO cocktail garnished with the same dark-colored, tart fruit each paired well with passed hors d’oeuvres. Here is a look at our top five selections:

Patty Melt

There is something uncomplicated about a burger on a piece of rye bread like this patty melt.

Bean Dip

Topped with fresh, plump tomatoes, cilantro and goat cheese this vegetarian dish is perfect to share, but chorizo can be added too for you meat lovers.

Brussels Sprout Salad

Whether focusing on the charcuterie board or the Brussels Sprout salad, both were a winner.

Ask for a little honey to drizzle over this crunchy, perfectly fried chicken.
