Go Ahead, Judge Me: A Chain Restaurant I Like.

Judge me all you want for adding a chain restaurant into my repertoire but Texas de Brazil D.C. was an enjoyable experience for this food connoisseur.  For $46.99, the amount of food you get is astronomical.  For two, no one, hour I attempted to stuff my face with the constant flow of meats and cheese puffs of bread that I could muster.  The restaurant boasts the traditional Brazilian steakhouse style with a full rodizio (all-you-can-eat) style service.  With all this meat you will be running for vegetables.  The 50+ item salad bar was my first stop before indulging in the stream of meat.

Typically, salad bars, all-you-can-eat and chains are key words in the food industry that turn me off.  They produce this feeling of bland, mass produced flavor.  Texas de Brazil D.C. left me feeling like I need to visit chain restaurants more often than not especially with these prices and flavors.  The salad bar was filled with fresh (unfortunately, not local) ingredients and a surprising variety of cold dishes.  I expected to see a lot of soupy potato salad and those minty green globs of jello molds that you often find on these types of bars.  Instead I found an array of goat cheese, salmon with grain mustard dressing and tabouleh salad to name a few.

This is second date material.  Show your significant other just how much you can eat in this unspoken eating competition.  It seriously becomes a battle of last man standing by the time all the meats, salad bar items and side items make to the table.  Word to the wise:  pace yourself.
