Drinks on Me: World Baijiu Day

[ 1 ] July 31, 2015 |

What is this?? My sentiments exactly when I got wind of Baijiu.  Never heard of it but I am curious and willing to celebrate just about anything with libations.  Cheers!

World Baijiu Day is on Saturday, August 8th.  World what day?  Exactly.

Baijiu is by far the largest spirit category in the world – 13 times larger than vodka, to give some context – yet this storied Chinese spirit is barely known in the U.S.  BaijiuAmerica is out to change that, in large part with HKB Baijiu, which was created for daring mixology.

Luminous, created by Orson Salicetti

  • 3/4 ounce of HKB
  • 3/4 ounce of a mix lime / lemon juice
  • 3/4 ounce of elderflower liquor
  • 1 ounce Bombay Sapphire East
  • 1/4 ounce of Agave syrup
  • 6 green grape seedless
  • Drop of Hibiscus Elixir ( infuse for a couple of days Hibiscus flowers in  50% HKB and 50% water and agave syrup to your own taste).

Muddle the grapes in a glass, then add the rest of the ingredients. Mix well and add crushed ice, no need to shake.  Add a few drops of Hibiscus Elixir on the top.
