Beach Bod Ready?? Here’s The List To Help You Get There.

[ 0 ] May 20, 2015 |

The summer equals plenty of good eating and drinking, which can be counterproductive in achieving that beach bod.  Lucky for District residents, there are a plethora of gyms, classes, races and marathons for you to keep that tummy tucked and bum tight.  Here are JKGF picks of classes to check out that will surely not bore you:

  1. IMG_7556

Johnna @ the Jingle All The Way Race (December 7, 2014)

Women Who Hustle Memorial Day Bootcamp: Women Who Hustle & Deanna Jefferson, alongside DC area host Michel Wright, will host the one hour workout that is complete with a healthy snack table and a Q&A with Deanna Jefferson.  For $25, this is a great way to begin the weekend of snacking and munching.  More info here.

  2. Flybarre at Flywheel: Want to work on toning??  This class stretches, pulls and tests every muscle in your body with more than the ballet barre.  Expect bands, balls and fist pumping music during this one hour class.
  3. SoulCycle is the new rave in the District. It is something about spinning wheels on a bike in the dark with old Michael Jackson hits belting out that gets the hurt racing.  Be prepared to lift weights in the process (which some have debated is not exactly recommended) and challenge every muscle in your thighs.
  4. There’s no better way to get your ducks in order than to prep for a race and/or marathon. The summer is an amazing time to train because you do not have to worry about running in the cold and snow.  On March 20, 2015, registration for the Marine Corps Marathon opens (the race is on October 25, 2015).  Challenge yourself and see what you can accomplish this summer to make good time in the race.
  5. Are you a morning person or a night owl? Either way, Yards Park has a yoga class for you.  For early risers, their Yoga with DCBFIT is at 6:00 am and Vinyasa Yoga with Vida Fitness is at 7:00 pm.  All classes are FREE.  See schedule here.
