Time for a road trip? Tips to make it Good.

Road trips can be brutal, which is why I jumped at the opportunity to make my experience less brutal with the 2015 Chevy Tahoe.  With the navigation headed south, I hit the road for a week long getaway of eating and more eating.  The Tahoe was a welcome experience because it was the size of a small apartment in the District.  After consuming as much carbs and politically incorrect meat that I could get in my body over the week long getaway, it was a relaxing feeling not to have to cram into a small car and trek to the next destination.  What did I discover on this road adventure?  Five things every foodie should remember on a long trip:

1. Fast food is not the enemy.  On a long road trip, fast food is d*** near your best friend!  Every sign on 95 north and south is pointing to the fast food chains we have all come to know and hate.  Get with the program and choose your favorite guilty pleasure.

2.  Do try to keep space in mind when choosing a vehicle (*if there is a choice…if there is no choice, skip to no. 3…).  The Chevy Tahoe had the space of two of my cars, which is a two-door coupe.  On this trek, I would be passing some of the cheapest and freshest markets for seafood, some of that was making its way to DC even if I had to sit with it in my lap.

3.  Do make plans to stop at interesting tourist sites.  Look like a tourist for once!  Tourist invade your town/city, why return the favor?!

4.  Do have your playlist in order.  Road trips will be a complete dud without the right tunes.

5.  Do have the right company.  Someone that will keep the music rolling, spot the “good” fast food stops and who will keep the chatter up (*unless chatter is not your thing…JKGF loves a good convo!).

Now that those are secured and in place, who’s ready to hit the road?
