The New Year consistently ushers in resolutions of more gym time, weight loss and other promises of a new “you” with the turn of the clock on December 31.  Giving up alcohol seems to be the first on the chopping block due to unnecessary calories, which is a valid argument until you have that unnecessarily hard day at work.  Bring on the cocktails!  This is the major reason Bethenny Frankel’s newest book, Skinnygirl Cocktails, is one of JKGF favorites.  The book is page after page of every excuse to make a cocktail a part of your weekly regime.  For under 150 calories you can sip on three ingredient cocktails such as “Old Hollywood” and a “French Kiss”.

The catch 22 here, however, is that most, if not all, of the cocktails listed in the book encourage you to use Skinnygirl branded alcohol.  They do say things like “or Other Unflavored Vodka”, which leaves you choosing from the wild of the liquor store.  Since JKGF does not own any Skinnygirl products, we were left to our own devices.  Skinny cocktails unlike skinny food i.e. “low fat”, “fat free”, etc., does not skimp on flavor.  The same effect and taste of the original recipe come with the “skinny” recipe.  With cocktails like these, who needs to go back to unnecessary calorie intake?

Skinnygirl cocktails is now a permanent resident on our coffee table.  Not for daily use, but for those hard days at the office…*cheers*
