Minibar’s Cracked Egg

Paying the bill can be a relieving time because you can get on with the rest of your day/night or it can be an instant stress factor when you see the zeros you drank in bottles of wine.  The District has become a hub for experimentation in the food scene.  Today, I share with you restaurants who do a savvy job of experimenting on how they present the bill to you.  A brief distraction never hurt anyone or their pockets for that matter.

  1. Minibar minibar by Jose Andres on Urbanspoon:  The infamous egg crack.  Yup, they come to your table with a whole egg shell and smash it in front of you.  What you will find in the egg is not gold, but your bill.
  2. Mari Vanna Mari Vanna on Urbanspoon:  The change purse.  Decorated in flower vines in an array of colors, I could not resist asking them if I could keep mine for my collection of wallets, purses and bags.
  3. Cuba Libre Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar on Urbanspoon:  Cigar boxes.  Such a great reminder of what the cigar is to Cuba.
