Where I’m Eating: Vino Volo Wine Bar Cafe @ Bethesda Row

[ 0 ] July 24, 2014 |

Bethesda Row is a great place in the summer for shopping and has plenty of dining pit stops to go around after you’ve spent some cash on fashion. After roaming aisles and clothing racks, go get your sip on and chill out at Vino Volo’s outdoor patio.  Vino Volo Wine Bar Cafe in Bethesda Row has a new summer menu that now showcases small plates — perfect for pairing with their hand-picked wine flights. We tried two lovely pairings of food and flights that will be available for the rest of the summer.

IMG_0454plsCreditJasonMorenzTo start the evening off we tried the refreshing watermelon and feta salad and the decadent Atlantic salmon rolls with crab salad on crispy crostini. These were paired with the White Hot Summer Flight:
2013 Blanco from Solar Teules Winery, 2012 Veltlinsky from Graf Hardegg Winery, 2009 Divinity from Jankris Winery. Tasking notes: fruit and flowers, green apples and hay.

Following those, we had the savory Wine County chicken pate with brioche toast points and addictive lamb meatballs. These were paired with the Sonoma Selections Flight:

2012 North Coast from La Follette Winery, 2012 Estate from Alexander Valley Vineyards, 2012 Angela’s Table from Seghesio Winery. Tasting notes: rich berries and warm spice.

We were able to sip to our heart’s content, knowing we’d get home safely thanks to Uber.

I’m all about the wine bar and cafe thing this season, it just seems so perfect. Wind in your hair, a shopping bag from Ginger, something from Barnes & Noble, and a nice glass of wine with a girlfriend over dinner = ahhhh, summer.
