Cedar Wild Game Sausage

This weekends brunch should take you no further than Cedar Restaurant in Penn Quarter.  There are many reasons that I like this spot:   It’s cozy, never overcrowded and their wild game is the best I have had outside of South Africa.  The number one reason I like this spot these days is due to their Banana Nut Crunch French Toast.  It is absolutely life changing.  Life changing dishes are the ones where you rethink everything you ever thought about a particular dish and makes you recalculate your favorites in that category.  This french toast is the best I have had to date.  Anywhere.

Why the rant about french toast??  Well, if you close your eyes and bite into it, you will feel like you are  in your grandmother’s kitchen and she just finished whipping up her secret recipe for you.  Warm notes of banana trickle on your palate from the fresh-baked bread and topped with a soft crunchy crust, you have to eat the whole thing.  This is not the dish you share unless you despise sweets.  Yours truly is not a sweets lover, but for this dish I could convert to a life of sugar and everything nice.  Topped with Chantilly cream and served alongside Maple Syrup, visit with an appetite.  Try it for yourself and thank me later.
