Dishes We Love: Pig Roast

[ 0 ] July 10, 2013 |

While the weather is in high temperatures, time spent outside is a must for most Washingtonians.  For those of you craving the COB time to strike, here’s a little something to get into on this hump day.

Art & Souls Pig & Oyster Roast

First Course:  Small Snack Board (Pork Rinds, Deviled Eggs, Pimento Cheese, Butter Crackers, Art & Soul Hot Sauce & Fresh Lemon)

Second Course:  Roast Heritage Pig & Rappahannock Oysters

Third Course:  Dessert (Seasonal House-Made Creamsicles)

Beverages:  Punch Bowls*

The weekly Pig & Oyster Roast is every Wednesday on the patio for $35. *Not including kitchen cuts & beverages.

*Johnna’s tip:  I visited the Pig & Oyster Roast and I was impressed by the amount of oink oink they had on deck.  The oysters were being freshly shucked and guests had the freedom to float back and forth between stations filling their plates.  For $35, I felt like this was worth the money where the presentation offered a relaxed buffet style flow.  I was not limited to how much food I took in by the server having to bring it to the table.  The addition of the punch bowls also seemed to make the bar run smoothly too because the bartender simply had to fill your cup and move on to the next patron.  Though I’m not really a fan or sure why the restaurant does not include the punch in the price, I will say they produced the right levels of fruity alcohol levels needed in these 85 degree temps.  Cheers to Hump Day!
