Where I’m Eating: Epiphany Open Pit Beef & Subs

Its BBQ season and everyone is scouring the land to see whose grilled kabobs they can nibble on.  Living in the District can be limiting in BBQ season activity unless you know someone with suitable grill space or you are the occupier of your own https://www.globosurfer.com/best-weber-grills/ or the like.  If you are not the occupier of that space like yours truly and you crave that BBQ flavor when you cannot get to an actual BBQ, I think I found your neighborhood pit stop.  I recently visited Epiphany Open Pit Beef & Subs for some much needed grilled, smoky flavors on my palate.  It did the trick:  the proper balance of sweet, smoky, charred flavor on grilled chicken blared loudly over the noisy Georgia Avenue streets.

Sweet Potato Cheesecake

Accompanied by collards and baked beans, the grilled BBQ chicken dinner was filling enough to give me the allusion that I had just left a BBQ.  The finale was a slice of sweet potato cheesecake that gave me life!  Light enough to create the allusion that I was not ruining my diet but creamy enough to remind me to double up on my gym time this week.  Epiphany is not the kind of place where you stay and eat.  Plan ahead and call in your order because the four barstools at the small counter are not the most comfortable while enjoying your comfort food.

Do I still need an actual BBQ in my life? Yes, but Epiphany fills the void on those Tuesday’s when I cannot get anyone to break the grill out.
