With the upcoming Inauguration of President Barack Obama’s second term into office, visitors are presented with a wide variety of events to celebrate. I have compiled a list of my top picks. Enjoy!

  • Jack Rose Dining Saloon is hosting two interesting inaugural events. On Thursday, January 17th, they will host a Yes We ‘Can” Goose Island Tap Takeover Party. During the event, guests can enjoy a private tasting of extremely rare Goose Island imperial stouts. On Monday, January 21st, Jack Rose Dining Saloon will have a Inaugural Luau and Tiki Pig Roast.   • Hill Country Barbeque Market will also host a series of inaugural events. The restaurant will be open until 4AM with the bar menu available from 5PM to 4AM. On January, visitors can enjoy breakfast tacos. These tacos will come in varieties, such as, brisket and egg, egg and cheese, egg and potato, and egg an sausage. On a budget and can’t decide?   • Chef Art Smith along with other highly acclaimed chefs will host a Chef’s Ball at Art and Soul on January 19th. There will be a VIP reception which will run from 10:30 to 11:30 followed by a main event which will run from 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM. Art and Soul is located at 415 New Jersey Ave, NW. A $75 donation will include food, beverage, tax and gratuity. For an additional $50, guests will have access to the VIP reception.   • On Sunday, January 20th, Equinox Restaurant will offer a unique Inauguration brunch menu honoring the fifty-seventh presidential inauguration.  Chef Todd Gray will celebrate President Obama’s return to office and express his “Faith in America’s Food Future”, as well as honor Martin Luther King with a nod to the marking of the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. In this spirit Chef Gray has created a menu that features beloved dishes of Martin Luther King and President Barack Obama.Brunch Hours: 11am – 2pm3 Courses – $35.00
  • PAUL Penn Quarter – will open at 6:30am on Mon. 1/21 to accommodate everyone going to the Presidential Inauguration Swearing-In Ceremony and Inaugural Parade.  Pedestrian Access to PAUL on Inauguration Day is restricted by the Secret Service through the Public Access Parade Route Security Checkpoints which open at 6:30am.The closest checkpoints to PAUL are:
    • Indiana Avenue NW between 6th Street NW and 7th Street NW
    • 7th Street NW and D Street NW
    • 10th Street NW and E Street NW

    NOTE: The Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter Metro Stop in front of PAUL will be CLOSED on Inauguration Day.

  • On Monday, January 21 Founding Farmers DC and MoCo’s Founding Farmers will be serving their full brunch  menus from 9am – 2pm, and Farmers Fishers Bakers will offer the unlimited Farmers Market Brunch from 10am – 2:30pm, as well as the Bottomless Bloody Mary Bar.
