Hank’s Lobster Roll

Before the new year, I gathered a list of places that I had visited and wanted to visit more frequently in 2013.  To begin my series on “More in the New Year”, I revisit my trip to Hank’s.  My obsession with lobster led me to the newest addition to the Hank’s Oyster Bar Family.  Hank’s on the Hill has made a home for itself at 633 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE branching out from the roots of its flagship location in the Dupont Circle neighborhood.  Adding Gina Chersevani to the team has only made Hank’s more tempting to the seafood and cocktail lover.

Though it has been awhile since I last visited the restaurant, this is how I can truly tell if the food was really good.  If I can remember what I had and how it tasted some odd months later, then this was a memorable experience that should be shared.  If I cannot remember it, this indicates the food is like an old boyfriend, something I immediately try to dismiss from memory.

Hank’s lobster roll still sits with me to this day lacking everything I would want to forget and maintaining all my favorite parts of the lobster roll: soft, lightly buttered bread stuffed full of lobster chunks and tossed lightly in mayo.  The exaggeration of celery was left out of the Hank’s version of the Lobster Roll, which is much appreciated by yours truly.  In such a short period of time, Hank’s on the Hill has made itself a staple in the neighborhood.  Besides tons of oysters on deck, the cocktails Gina creates are worth a trip up to the Hill for drinks alone.
