Kraut Rocks!

[ 0 ] September 7, 2012 |

September Takeover: A band of culinary influential chefs are rocking the Washington D.C. food scene with a multi-sensory gastronomical experience called “Kraut Rocks.” Top Chef alum and Washington D.C. restaurateur Spike Mendelsohn is hosting the month-long culinary experience that puts sauerkraut, the classic fermented cabbage, on center stage.

Mendelsohn has assembled a group of progressive D.C. area chefs to showcase Kraut Rocks, selecting the diverse band of five trendsetting chefs because of their culinary knowledge, creativity and innovation.  For Kraut Rocks, Mendelsohn has challenged each chef to give sauerkraut, stereotypically a traditional condiment, equal billing among the recipe’s other ingredients.  Each chef will create a signature sauerkraut dish to serve at his respective restaurant throughout September.

Consumers vote for their favorite online at KrautRocks.com. A $250 restaurant gift certificate to the winning chef’s restaurant is the a grand prize in the Kraut Rocks Online Sweepstakes.  There is no purchase necessary to enter or win and entry is free.  The entire promo runs September 1-30.  Good luck!
