Peach Month

Grilled Peach Salad

Today begins one of my fave months of the year.  With a birthday looming and the best writer ever celebrating a birthday today (Happy Birthday @ArcheleJM !!), August absolutely rocks out.  Recently, I got a taste of what Station 4 had in mind to celebrate the month of August.  Today kicks off National Peach Month and the Southwest restaurant has a menu lined with dishes dripping with peach flavor.  I spent the evening indulging in Blue Point Oysters in an onion-peach mignonette; Grilled Peach Salad with Gorgonzola cheese, spiced pecans, and arugula dressed with black pepper dijonaise; Seared Scallops with pickled peach on cilantro salad; Seared Fois Gras with roasted peaches and summer truffle juice, as well as Korobuto Pork Tenderloin served with peach chutney and fava-corn relish.

Peaches are the ultimate fruit sex symbol in my book so it was fitting that they were paired with oysters…talk about an aphrodisiac!

Blue Point Oysters

The Grilled Peaches left me wanting more with stamps of the perfect char marks and a refreshing crispness.  For $10, I suggest taking up some of Station 4’s patio space and sipping on their Peach Sangria, made with a combination of white wine, local peaches, peach nectar, peach liquor, mint, cinnamon, brandy, simple syrup and Prosecco.

Station 4 is on to something that I think every restaurant in the District should copycat.  Celebrate Peaches and celebrate August, they are the absolute sweetest!
