World Tour: From the DMV to Italy

Here’s your chance to do just that – and better yet, with a tour guide with impeccable expertise! From Sunday, October 7th through Tuesday, October 16th, Chef/Owner Domenico Cornacchia of Assaggi Mozzarella Bar in Bethesda, MD and Assaggi Osteria in McLean, VA will be show a group of travelers the northern regions of Italy through a chef’s eyes. The ten-day, nine-night journey will highlight the cuisine, while also exploring the cultural and historical characteristics of the region.

The culinary tour is open to the public and costs $4,485 per person for double occupancy accommodations with a limited number of single occupancy accommodations available for an additional $785. The cost includes: round-trip airfare to Italy (economy class); four-star hotel accommodations; all meals; each day’s guided activities; an English-speaking Italian tour guide; all entrance fees for scheduled activities; all Italian ground transportation, transfers and taxi fares to restaurants and other scheduled destinations, as well as all current taxes/surcharges. A $1,500 per person deposit is requested and fully refundable by July 1st. Additionally, Bethesda Travel Center’s Owner Guido Adelfio will host a pre-retreat briefing at Assaggi Mozzarella Bar on Monday, August 27th to review the travel itinerary before the September departure.

San Paolo – Bolzano – Lavis – Trento –

Bassano del Grappa – Vicenza – Nervesa
Marostica – San Zenone – Asolo – {Venezia}

Born in Ascoli-Piceno, Italy, Chef Domenico Cornacchia has been cooking since the age of 12 and has worked in his homeland of Italy, as well as in Switzerland and Southern France before arriving in the States. Through Bethesda Travel Center’s licensed “people-to-people” program, Chef Cornacchia will help foster first-hand connections between Americans and Italians as the group navigates busting city life, historic landmarks and discovers the delicious tastes of northern Italy.

The program will include activities such as:
A walking tour and tasting at La Cappuccina and Contra Soarda Wineries
Boat tour to Riva del Garda
An excursion to the mountain shrine of San Romedio
A visit to the city of Trento, the historic trade gateway to Germany
Tour of the Giulietta e Romeo castles, which inspired William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet
Tour of Teatro Olimpico, the oldest surviving enclosed theatre in the world dating back to 1580.
