So Reston Has Some Good Food

[ 0 ] June 13, 2012 |

It’s time for me to escape the concrete loop of Downtown DC, which is why I’m headed to the Taste of Reston this weekend. Produced by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce, the Taste was recently voted 2012’s Best Food Festival of Northern Virginia by Virginia Living. The festival features the region’s top cuisine, family activities, live entertainment, a weekend-long carnival and a new Wine ‘n Dine section with cooking demonstrations from local chefs. For the first time in the festival’s 20+ year history, non-perishable food donations will be collected in support of the Capital Area Food Bank as part of the 2012 Governor’s Bowl Chamber Challenge Food Drive (I love this! Giving back while being entertained). A quick run down of what you will find in Reston beginning this Friday:

*Beginning on Friday at 3:00 PM, restaurants and vendors will line the streets of the Reston Town Center.

*Live music with names such as The Fabulous Dialtones, the Fuzz and Almost Journey.

*Guests can learn how to cook with wine and re-create their restaurant favorites at home in the new Wine ‘n Dine section.

*The YMCA Fairfax Reston will offer games and prizes, Fear Factor and Man vs. Wild in the Family Fun Zone.

*Kids can enjoy the Taste of Reston Carnival open during event hours on Friday and Saturday with a bonus carnival day on Sunday featuring all-you-can-ride from 10 AM – 2 PM for $25.
